GOG celebrates 13 years with Elvira I & II, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and a sale

    news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Wednesday, 29 September, 2021 - 14:29 · 1 minute

Founded 13 years ago, GOG.com is celebrating with the release of more classic games along with a big sale.

A fan of classic games? Well you're in luck with Elvira: Mistress of the Dark and Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus now available on GOG with Linux packages ready to install (it uses DOSBox). The popular classic Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is also now on GOG but only has a Windows version so you will need to use Wine. Nice to see even more older games getting a new life, which is a big reason why I like GOG when they work with publishers to make it happen.

For the big sale they have a single big 13th birthday list full of titles, plus members of the GOG team also curated their own lists which you can find on the GOG homepage.

Tons of great deals. If you spot any you think are really worth going for, do let us know in the comments. For some quick picks we can easily suggest:

A deck-builder with a difference, as you're not just going through dungeons collecting cards to use during battles, you're also rolling dice to activate these various cards. Tux and Fanny is the most completely bizarre adventure and it's out now

    news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Friday, 10 September, 2021 - 14:02 · 1 minute

Ever heard of Tux and Fanny? It's originally an incredibly strange 2019 animated film by Albert Birney who has teamed up with Ghost Time Games (Jettomero, Test Tube Titans) to make an adventure game out of it.

The film was so weird that it's gained a small cult following. I cannot express in clear enough wording just how completely odd it is. Tux and Fanny matches up well with a lot of the early classic flash animations, it leaves that strange lasting impression.

Anyway, the game is out now here's a trailer for it:

More about it:

Tux and Fanny just want to play soccer but their soccer ball is deflated. Go on an epic adventure to help them inflate their ball. Play as both Tux and Fanny as well as a cat and a flea. All four characters will have to work together if you’re going to inflate the ball.

Play a multitude of diverse mini-games which you'll collect as you progress through your journey, each with their own unique rewards. There are secrets hidden at every turn in the world of Tux and Fanny. Can you find them all?

You can buy it on itch.io .

The GOG Games Festival is live with new games and lots on sale

    news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Thursday, 19 August, 2021 - 13:41 · 1 minute

It seems GOG have been watching what Valve are doing with Steam and they've announced the GOG Games Festival .

Today they've announced a bunch of new game releases, more upcoming games, games you can try a demo of and of course there's lots of titles currently on sale. From the press email, GOG mentioned they will be revealing and adding games on a daily basis, so you'll want to check back often to see them all.

As expected, lots of the new stuff is only supported on Windows, and they're missing native Linux builds for things that are already available on Steam like Tomb Raider GOTY . Plenty of our readers use the Wine compatibility layer though so plenty of it is likely still interesting for our readers.

GOG have a few interesting game lists to browse through for the sale including:

The GOG Games Festival which runs until September 2, at 1 PM UTC. Head over to GOG.com if you're interested in any. If you just want to see native Linux titles on sale here's the link for that .
