Progressive New York congresswoman describes resurfacing of trauma when seeing explicit materials with her image transposed on to them

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has described her horror at discovering – midway through a discussion with aides during a car journey in February – that she had been transposed into a “deepfake porn” simulation generated by artificial intelligence and posted on X.

In an interview with Rolling Stone , the progressive congresswoman said the experience of coming up close to a depiction of herself performing a sex act had shown her that being deepfaked was “not as imaginary as people want to make it seem”.

Daniel Kebede accuses government of failing to tackle issue of sexism and its spread online among children

The leader of the UK’s largest education union has called for an independent inquiry into the rise of sexism and misogyny among boys and young men , saying it should not be left to parents and schools to police.

Daniel Kebede, the general secretary of the National Education Union (NEU), said it was “a huge issue” in schools and expressed particular concern about the ease with which pupils are accessing aggressive hardcore pornography on their phones .

More than 250 British celebrities are among thousands of famous people who are victims of deepfake pornography, an investigation has found.

A Channel 4 News analysis of the five most visited deepfake websites found almost 4,000 famous individuals were listed, of whom 255 were British.

The day after his mother died, 31-year-old Rocco Tano decided to get an impromptu circumcision. “I just wanted to feel the pain that my mother felt,” the protagonist of Netflix’s new Italian-language series Supersex explains in voiceover as he unbuttons his trousers and the surgeon’s scalpel nears his crotch. “I wanted the pain to keep me alive.”

Grief can make people do irrational things – but in Tano’s case, the snip to the foreskin was more than an extreme form of inscribing the memory of a loved one on his body. For the man better known as Rocco Siffredi or “the Italian stallion”, it was also potentially the death of his career. Because by the time it met with disinfected steel, Siffredi’s member was well on the way to being a powerful business asset. It was, as his distraught producer puts it in the biopic upon learning of the operation, “the greatest, most beautiful dick in the universe”.

Imagine finding that someone has taken a picture of you from the internet and superimposed it on a sexually explicit image available online. Or that a video appears showing you having sex with someone you have never met.

Imagine worrying that your children, partner, parents or colleagues might see this and believe it is really you. And that your frantic attempts to take it off social media keep failing, and the fake “you” keeps reappearing and multiplying. Imagine realising that these images could remain online for ever and discovering that no laws exist to prosecute the people who created it.

Former firearms officer’s history of alleged sexual offending dated back to 1995, 347-page report finds

Wayne Couzens should never have been a police officer and three separate forces “could and should have” stopped him, a damning report by Lady Elish Angiolini has found.

The 51-year-old former firearms officer’s history of alleged sexual offending and predilection for violent and extreme pornography dated back to 1995, it said. Couzens allegedly sexually assaulted a child and attempted to kidnap a woman at knife-point in the years before he abducted, raped and murdered Sarah Everard on 3 March 2021.
