    Computing as we know it today was built in no small part by individuals who have written open source software—often for little to no personal financial gain—as well as by developers who use those tools. Few tools like that are as legendary and impactful as the Vim open source code editor, the first version of which was written and released by Dutch engineer Bram Moolenaar in 1991.

    According to a note published by his family to Google Groups this week, Moolenaar passed away on August 3 at the age of 62. The post did not share his cause of death, stating only that he had been suffering from a medical condition for a few weeks. They wrote :

    It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that Bram Moolenaar passed away on 3 August 2023.
    Bram was suffering from a medical condition that progressed quickly over the last few weeks.

    Bram dedicated a large part of his life to VIM and he was very proud of the VIM community that you are all part of.

    The note goes on to say that they are arranging a Dutch-language funeral service in the Netherlands for Moolenaar, but that a date has not yet been set.

      Tridactyl – Utilisez Firefox avec les raccourcis de Vim

    Chacun surmonte ses blessures d’enfance comme il peut. Pour certains, ce sera le psy, pour d’autres se teindre les cheveux ou se faire un tatouage cathartique, enfin pour d’autres ce sera installer Tridactyl.

    Tridactyl est une extension pour Firefox qui remplace le mécanisme de contrôle par défaut du navigateur par un mécanisme inspiré de l’éditeur Vim.

    Alors comment ça fonctionne ? Et bien exactement comme Vim. Vous utilisez tout simplement votre clavier pour utiliser Firefox. Par exemple, les touches j / k vous permettront de scroller la page, la touche f permettra de « cliquer » sur un lien, ou encore les doubles crochets [[ ou ]] vous permettront de vous déplacer dans la pagination des sites.

    Tridactyl permet de faire beaucoup plus de choses, mais pour connaitre toutes les commandes, entrez :

      E-Mail mit vim in neomutt

    In neomutt nutze ich folgende Einstellung

    set edit_headers = yes
set editor="vim -c 'startinsert' '+/^$'"

    Die Option edit_headers ermöglicht die Header-Informationen im vim anzupassen. Mit der editor gebe ich vim mit, dass ich direkt in den Insert-Modus von vim möchte und mit dem +/^$' überspringen wird den Header.

    In der .vimrc habe ich folgendes eingestellt.

    set complete+=kspell
" Setup für E-Mail
autocmd FileType mail set colorcolumn=76
autocmd FileType mail set tw=75
autocmd FileType mail set spell spelllang=de,en

    Im Insert-Modus lässt sich so mit STRG+P die Vervollständigungen der Rechtschreibung starten.
