The Pixel Tablet! Apparently it will also come in black, or at least this prototype does.
The Google Pixel Tablet is arriving at some point in 2023. While nobody knows quite when the release date is, someone was apparently already selling a prototype on Facebook Marketplace. (Why does this keep happening to Pixel prototypes?) The listing, spotted by Twitter user ShrimpApplePro , represents the first non-marketing pictures of Google's upcoming tablet, along with the base accessory that turns it into a smart display.
We can see this is a 256GB version of the tablet, and it's a rare look at the device in black, with a mismatched white speaker dock. Naturally it's running Android 13 with all the fun new tablet additions.
The Pixel Tablet was officially announced alongside the Pixel 7 in October, but we still don't have a price or release date. The hardware is designed to look identical to a Nest Hub, Google's line of smart displays, and Android 13 can launch a "hub mode" when docked, which seems purpose-built for a product like this. If the Pixel Tablet kicks over into a 10-foot "docked" interface, though—perhaps something that looks like the Nest Hub software—we haven't seen it. Every shot of the device shows it running the normal Android tablet interface.

Google’s Black Friday deals: It’s hard to say no to a $300 Pixel 6a

This week is everyone's favorite shopping holiday: Black Friday. Google's Black Friday deals are already running on the Google Store and Amazon . Many of these represent the first discounts for Google's new hardware announced last month.
First up, we have phones, with Google offering $150 off the Pixel 7 Pro ( Google , Amazon ) and Pixel 6a ( Google , Amazon ), and $100 off the Pixel 7 ( Google , Amazon ). That Pixel 6a deal is a serious head-turner: $150 off the already-good $449 price makes for a $300 device that will meet most people's basic smartphone needs. Remember that the Pixel 6a has a near flagship-class Google Tensor 1 SoC. With Google (and really every other Android SoC vendor) not doing much performance-wise year over year, you'll get nearly the same benchmarks from the Pixel 6a as the normally $900 Pixel 7 Pro, but now for a third of the price. It has a great camera, water resistance, Wi-Fi 6e support, and a fast and clean build of Android with day-one updates. You're not going to wow anyone with a 60 Hz display, but if you just need a basic smartphone, this is a steal for $300.
The Pixel 7 Pro for $150 off is also a great deal. That makes for $750 for a phone with all the fancy extras , like a 120 Hz display and wireless charging.

The Pixel 7 might be Google's first-ever flagship smartphone sequel.
That might seem like a strange thing to say about "version 7" of a smartphone, but before now, every flagship Pixel has switched manufacturers or used an all-new design from year to year. This strategy is the exact opposite of the one used by the larger, more serious hardware companies like Apple or Samsung, from which you can expect steady, iterative smartphone designs, with big redesigns coming every few years. When you're scrambling to build a smartphone from scratch every year, it's hard to do much in the way of error correction, improvements, or adjusting to customer feedback.
The Pixel 6 Pro was already the best Android phone you could buy, so Google didn't have to do too much to turn in a good smartphone this year. All the important bits from the Pixel 6 are here, like the category-leading price tag, great camera, and speedy, clean software. But even with that solid base, Google did a good job of fixing some of our minor complaints about the Pixel 6. There's no reason to upgrade if you have a Pixel 6, but an actual "version 2" of Google's flagship smartphone might entice more people to try the brand.
