Things are shaping

I made some visual changes to my chyrp-lite powered blog, especially to the sidebar.

I also chose a final theme, which surprisingly (at least for me) is not dark, but it delivers all of the features I want.

All in all I'm very satisfied about how things are shaping.. Will keep you posted!

#Monitoring Systems

Thanks to Kevin, a friend from France, I recently discovered "hetrixtools" (link attached) which lets you monitor one or more hosts for free (there are limitations but they are not strict): without installing any software on your machines, you can do #PING, #Website, #SMTP and #Heartbeat checks over your hosts; then if you install their agent (it's really straightforward but #CPU usage was an issue for my single-core VPS) you can get a lot more, from services to ports monitoring, to disk health checks.

So, after I saw that installing the agent was not feasible for me, I decided to try a local run monitoring service and I choose #Monit, which is well documented and all in all quite easy to set up once you get the way it works.

I've got #notifications directly to my #INBOX, via my own #email server and here you can see what I'm monitoring so far.. https://i.imgur.com/uqDceAa.jpeg Each of those items is click-able and gives a lot of detailed info. I cannot see any difference in #CPU usage on my host and am quite satisfied by the results.

Load Balancing - The Cheap Way

So.. I rented another cheap #VPS, something like 1core/1GB/10GB to run my 7 bots (for #IRC, #XMPP, #Steam, #Mumble and #Mastodon) and an IRC client, which I'm using less and less, to free some resources from my main VPS.

Now they're perfectly balanced :) I can accomodate a few friends, if need be, to some services I'm hosting, like XMPP and #Email: if we know each other you're always welcome and if we don't know yet, feel free to drop me a message!

Already a week in hospital, lot's of stuff to do and honestly I'm quite tired 😩

Also "hospital food", which isn't exactly great but breakfast, lunch and dinner have become my favorite times of the day.. go figure!

And this guy in the picture will take something like 5 hours to complete ✅💯 It's potassium and it looks like it will burn your veins if let flowing too fast..

Now now, back to listen to music 🎵 and daily shits. Hope your day feels better than mine ❤️
